Star Wars Bracket

I posted this on the Facebook page, but I just want to let everyone know I will be doing a Star Wars Bracket in honor of both March Madness and the release of Star Wars 3D (yeah I know that was last month, but still).

I currently have 32 good guys and 32 bad guys ready roll out. So, make sure to come back each and every day to vote.

We will be starting with the good guys and narrowing them down to 16 - then with the bad guys.

At the end will have the best bad guy vs. the best good guy - but only one can be the best.

That is up to you. Again, come back and vote. And please, spread the word.

Tuesday's With Movies: 3/13/12

Usually when I do this I struggle to find even four mainstream movies being released on DVD. And out of those I would be lucky to be interested in even half of them. This week, however, there is a huge list of new DVDs coming out today - and I have to say I have at least some interest in all of them.

The Descendants: Usually this is the type of film I may pass up. Those nominated for Oscars are always so stuffy. But, this one looks to be pretty interesting. Plus it has that added bonus of being partly written by the Dean of Greendale!

The Adventures of Tintin: Don't really know the source material of this, and at first I really no interest in seeing this. But, after some time I figured I would at least give it a shot. It does come from Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson so it has to be somewhat decent, right?

My Week with Marilyn: This may be the film coming out today that I have the least amount of interest in seeing, but I will still check it out.

Happy Feet Two: I wasn't a huge fan of the first film, but this one looks sort of cute. This being on the interest list has more to do with my son than it does with me. But, I will check it out with him. Probably.

Melancholia: I was up in the air about this one. From everything I have heard I am either going to love it or I am going to hate it. At least that seems to be what I am getting. But, I will definitely be checking it out because Jess gave it to me as part of her 10 films in my new upcoming 50 list.

The Three Musketeers: This was just added to my list. I rewatched the trailer and I have to say it looked somewhat interesting. I doubt it will be as cool or funny as the Sheen/Sutherland/Platt film, but I want to check it out.

Young Adult: Never really heard much about this one, but it has a stellar cast and looks to have a pretty good story behind it. Will be checking it out at some point.

Tuesday's With Movies: 3/6/12

Immortals: When I first saw this trailer I felt it was another try to duplicate the success of 300. I really had no interest in seeing it, and I really don't have much interest now, but it may have grown a bit with many people claiming it to be a pretty decent film.

Footloose: There are just some films that I cannot believe ever get remade. Why not find some films out there that had a good premise but failed for some reason or another and try to fix them? Anyway, when this was first announced I was out - but apparently it is good, so I will check it out. I am sure Mrs. Kano wants to see it.

Jack and Jill: Horrible film and I know it will be. But, it still intrigues me. I need to know how bad it is.

Like Crazy: Never heard of it, but it stars the girl from Winter's Bone and Chekov from the new Star Trek. Apparently about a British girl who falls for a US boy - but is whisked away when she stays too long and her visa runs out. As of now, not really looking to check it out.

Tuesday's With Movies: 2/28/12

Hugo: For some reason I had no real interest in seeing this when the original trailer came out, nor was I that interested when it was in the theater. But, the film has had a lot of great reviews and was nominated for quite a few academy awards. So, I have actually become even more interested and will definitely be checking it out.

Johnny English Reborn: I have to admit that I really enjoy Rowan Atkinson. Mr. Bean was downright hilarious and I have enjoyed most of his bit parts in film over the years. So, when Johnny English came out I was pretty excited. It was fine - not great. So I was surprised to hear a sequel was made. But, I will check it out.

Beneath the Darkness: Had never heard of this until I saw it was being released on DVD. Looked it up and it has some seriously horrid reviews - including a 0 percent on rotten tomatoes. The premise, however, seems interesting to me. Doubt I will check it out though, but still sounded better than a 0 percent rating.

Tuesday's With Movies: 2/21/12

Tower Heist: When I first saw the trailer for this I had zero interest in seeing it, but after looking at it a few dozen times now it looks like it may not be that horrible. So, I am sort of interested in seeing it now.

J. Edgar: I have really started to enjoy Leonardo DiCaprio and these biopics usually get my interest up. You'd think that with the pairing I would be all over it, but for some reason I am just not there with this one yet.

Martha Marcy May Marlene: This one sort of went under my radar despite its huge critical acclaim. It wasn't until I saw it was coming out on DVD and I did a little more research - it actually look like I may enjoy this one.

The Way: I had never heard of this one. But, it looks like it also has received some great reviews. Directed my Mr. Mighty Duck starring himself and his father. May give this one a try.

London Boulevard: I love Keira Knightley so anytime she is not starring in some period piece I am definitely all over it. Here she stars with Colin Farrell and it looks like it may have some sort of action in it. I'm in.
