Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

It has been almost a week now since I have seen Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, but again my blog here has sort of taken a back seat to my summer classes I am taking. That is slowly coming to an end, and I am also hoping to make a few changes to this site - here's hoping that happens sometime around September, so stay tuned.

Anyway, to the task at hand. I have not read a single Harry Potter book, let me first by saying that. I tried to read the first book while I was on my honeymoon, but I soon realized that I would much rather see all of the movies first before reading the books.

I am still up in the air as to where I would rank this film in terms of the Potter Universe, but I am thinking it is either first or second.

I enjoyed pretty much everything that the film had to offer - it was dark and mysterious, yet also had some great laughs and awkward moments between teens falling in love for the first time.

I have done my best to not hear anything or read anything about the future books so far, and I am glad I did because this film truly blew me away with some of the things that came out of nowhere - one of which happened almost immediately, and the other at the end of the film.

These films have pretty much always been about the relationships of Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Ron (Rupert Grint) and Hermione (Emma Watson) - as well as Harry's connection to Lord Voldemort. This film, however, also brought a few other characters into the limelight a little more. We still had the Harry storyline continuing to move forward, as well as some very good scenes with Hermione and Ron - but we also have a conflicted Draco Malfoy (Tom Felton), who to me appears to be running parallel, albeit on the opposite spectrum, to Harry. Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) is also moved forward a lot in this film, and Dumbledore (Michael Gambon) had a huge part in this film throughout its entirety.

Like I said, this is either the best or one of the top two in my opinion, and although there is no confrontation between Harry and Voldemort himself, there is definitely build up and some great fight scenes. The last 'two' films will certainly be packed with action and I am certainly looking forward to them.
