50 Films of 2011

As a few of my fellow bloggers have decided to do, Nick with his 60/60 and Fletch with his 50 films, I decided to look through my films that I have yet to see and create a list for myself.

Nothing too spectacular, but I have collected a number of movies over the years and some of those I have just not been able to get to.

So, over the course of the next year I will be digging in to the films below and hope to finish all 50. I have not included any theatrical releases, but I will be also seeing a handful of those this year - nor have I included any DVDs coming out past February - but a few of those will be watched this year I am sure.

Anyway - here is my list for the 50 films I will watch in 2011. I am off to a roaring start as I watched Red Dawn for the first time yesterday and am about to toss in 3:10 to Yuma after this post is complete.

3:10 To Yuma
Alice in Wonderland
Bullitt
Despicable Me
District 9
Donnie Darko
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind
Expendables

Kill Bill Vol. 2

So there you have it. 50 films I have yet to see, but will be checking out this year before the next ball drops. I have my work cut out for me, but it should be fun. Wish me luck.

I will review each of these films as time goes on - especially once I finally get caught up this week.

  1. I haven't seen 13 of them, but the rest are mostly good. Definitely skip Killers (SO BAD), and I didn't like King Arthur (the Clive Owen and Kiera Knightly in blue paint version at all). However, there are some amazing ones on the list - Eternal Sunshine, Pulp Fiction - gotta ask, did you live overseas for a while?

  2. Haha. No. Just for some reason I haven't gotten around to seeing some of these. It's harder now too with a 4-year old - can't watch some of these R movies with him in the room. But, I hope this helps me get caught up.

  3. I've seen all of these, easy being a bachelor, and I think this will be a treat. A few are sleepers, but there are some real gems in here.

    Good luck!

  4. Uh, what Jess said, almost to a tee. I haven't seen 14 of those, and at least one of 'em is on my list as well.

So many great films in here - some of my all-time faves. You're in for a great cinematic year.

My top 10 from this list:

    1. Pulp Fiction
    2. Eternal Sunshine
    3. Fargo
    4. Basterds
    5. Tombstone
    6. Reservoir Dogs
    7. Donnie Darko
    8. Heat
    9. The Wrestler
    10. The Fugitive

It's like you've avoided QT films on purpose! Have you not seen True Romance as well? Cause that would be high up on that list as well...

Can't wait to see how you do as well.

  5. I have seen a ton of films, but I still have a ton more to see.

Nope, have not seen True Romance - it almost made this list. Guess it will have to go on the 50 for 2012, unless I have time to get to it this year.

Still have a bunch I need to watch - hopefully eventually I will get to them all.
