Coming Soon

I have been trying to think of a way to mix up my 50 posts, and seeing as how I have already started creating my second 50 list - I thought something has to be mixed in sporadically.

So, I am also going to be doing a mini Hanks-O-Thon.
I will be watching (or re-watching) Tom Hanks' films from the beginning of his career. Those films are listed below (those marked with a * are films I have seen previously, but will be watching again). Hanks is my favorite actor and this is something I have always wanted to do. Plus, it gives me an excuse to finally catch up on some of his films that I have missed. It will all conclude with the release (hopefully the DVD comes out in time) of his 2011 film(s).

Well, here they are alphabetically. When I do them, however, they will be watched in chronological order:

Angels & Demons*
Apollo 13*
Bachelor Party
Big Bonfire of the Vanities
The 'burbs*
Cast Away*
Catch Me If You Can*
Charlie Wilson's War
Da Vinci Code*
Dragnet
Every Time We Say Goodbye
Forrest Gump*
Great Buck Howard
Green Mile*
Joe vs. the Volcano*
Ladykillers*
Larry Crowne
League of Their Own*
Man with One Red Shoe*
Money Pit*
Nothing in Common
Philadelphia
Polar Express*
Punchline
Road to Perdition*
Saving Private Ryan*
Sleepless in Seattle
Splash*
Terminal*
That Thing You Do*
Toy Story*
Toy Story 2*
Toy Story 3*
Turner & Hooch*
Volunteers*
You've Got Mail*

Also, I am currently 10 films away from completing my first 50 list. These have been on the list for awhile because my wife and I will be watching them together. Unfortunately, the time we have together to watch is limited. So, they will hopefully be completed soon.

That being said, I have started my second list of 50, and I am still looking for a few ideas for the final few movies. So, please send any my way if you think I may like something. Once that list is done (and my original 50 watched or almost watched) I will post the new list.

Thanks!

Who? What? Where? #21

Sorry, this was supposed to go up yesterday.

Jess correctly identified the person the left as Judy Greer, but Nick came out of nowhere and said that she was Fern from Jawbreaker.

Congrats to Jess for keeping her slim lead over Matt and for Nick for getting back on the board. Good luck this week.

The concept is simple: each week I will place a photograph of a character within a film. It is up to you (the participant in the game) to tell me the following:

1) The name of the actor (or what the actor goes by in his acting profession).

2) The name of the character in the movie.

3) And, the name of the movie.

Each correct answer gets you a point - so if you get all three correct on a given week, you can get three points. I will keep a running chart each and every week. As of now, this will be played for bragging rights only - but we shall see what the future holds.

So here is week #21:

Standings:
Jess - 19 points
Matt - 17 points
Fletch - 13 points
Nick - 6 points
Mrs. Kano - 5 points

Tuesday's With Movies: 5/3/11

The Green Hornet: Probably the least anticipated superhero film for me, but I still would like to check it out. Seth Rogen can be pretty funny, but he sometimes can be a bit over the top (or full of himself, whatever). Looks like it would be at least a fun watch, so we shall see.

The Dilemma: I don't know what it is, but Vince Vaughn (most of the time) gets me to smile. Mix that with Kevin James and I am hoping to last at least a few times. The concept seemed pretty interesting, so hopefully they didn't screw it up too much.

From Prada to Nada: This is a film my wife asked me to add to the Netflix queue - so I did. Didn't think too much of it, but the cover of it has some chicks with some nice legs - so I will most likely watch it with her. I know, very superficial of me - wanna fight about it?

Who? What? Where? #20

OK, sorry for missing last week. I had an issue with my computer and it didn't get up and running until this past weekend. So, hopefully I will have no more issues.

The winner from two weeks ago was Jess, who correctly identified the person to the left as Ginnifer Goodwin in the role of Gigi Phillips in He's Just Not That Into You.

Congratulations Jess - you have retaken the lead. I am enjoying the back and forth between the leaders and Fletch holding steady in third.

So here is week #19:

Standings:
Jess - 18 points
Matt - 17 points
Fletch - 13 points
Mrs. Kano - 5 points
Nick - 4 points
