Tuesday's With Movies: 8/23/11

Phineas & Ferb: The Movie: Well, I already watched this with my son.

It was on Disney Channel a few weeks ago, but they are now releasing it on DVD. I have to admit, I love this show. It is pretty funny, and the movie is no exception. If you have kids, or even if you don't, give it a shot.

Win Win: Looks to be another one of those heart-warming sports themed movies. I usually love watching those - when it is a sport that actually interests me. This one deals with wrestling - so my interest is just not there. I may watch this sometime in the future.

The Beaver: Mel Gibson in his return to the screen. Has a bit of a depressing feel, but I can't tell if it is straight drama or a dark comedy movie. I have this on my Netflix queue, so I will check it out once it gets here.

Blitz: Jason Statham starring role which I never heard of. Here he stars as a cop who is tracking down a serial killer that is killing police officers.

Henry's Crime: Yet another film that I have never heard of. This one stars Keanu Reeves. A man is sent to prison for robbing a bank - a crime he didn't commit. Once out - he decides to rob the bank he was accused of robbing.

The Greatest Movie Ever Sold: I really enjoyed Morgan Spurlock's Supersize Me, it had a great mix of humor and fact. This one looks to be much of the same, this time he attacks merchandising in films.

Guys of TV: Dempsey vs. Bomer

Might as well make it three True Blooders in the second round.

Stephen Moyer makes three as he narrowly edges Justin Chatwin.

I seem to lose voters on the weekends. I hope it jumps back up today. Because the voting continues.

(2) Patrick Dempsey

Most of us know Dempsey as the young star in Can't Buy Me Love and Loverboy. But the youngin's out there only really got to know Dempsey as he took on the role of Dr. Derek Shepherd on ABC's Grey's Anatomy.

Bomer got his start on the soap opera Guiding Light. Since then he has been on a few television series including Traveler and Chuck. He has since made a name for himself on USA's White Collar as Neal Caffrey.

Looking through Moyer's imdb page I can honestly say that I had not seen a single thing he was part of in the past. Not until he became the main vampire, Bill Compton, in HBO's True Blood.

(7) Justin Chatwin

Chatwin has starred in a few things in his past, including Tom Cruise's son, Robbie, in War of the Worlds. He is currently starring on Showtime's Shameless as Steve.

Guys of TV: Bean vs. Gorham

Most people, like myself, know Bean as Boromir in The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Last year he returned to the olden times to star as Eddard Stark in HBO's The Game of Thrones.

Gorham has had his share of television series in the past, from Party of Five to Felicity to Ugly Betty, although I had never seen any of them before. I had no idea who he was until he became Auggie Anderson, the blind technician, on USA's Covert Affairs.

It's Four!

Neil Patrick Harris skunked Jared Padalecki to move all four No. 1 seeds into the second round. Now, the No. 2 seeds begin to be revealed.

(2) Ryan Kwanten

Kwanten apparently had a very successful run on the Australian soap opera entitled Home and Away as Vinnie Patterson and was then Jay Robertson on the short-lived Summerland. We all now know him as Sookie Stackhouse's big brother, Jason, on HBO's True Blood.

(7) Lee Thompson Young

Young first hit the big time on the Disney series as the title character Jett Jackson in The Famous Jett Jackson. He then starred in two big-budget series that fell flat, FlashForward and The Event before finally landing on TNT's Rizzoli & Isles as Detective Barry Frost.
